The only 3 pieces of gym equipment for a complete workout
Author: Aussie Fitness Equipment
Everyone keeps favourites, and it shouldn’t surprise you to know that this applies to gym equipment too. People pick their favourites among the variety of a gym’s equipment and machines for various reasons. Most people tend to stick with what they know, and that should explain why they find a particular exercise or station more comfortable comfortable to use than others. There are also plenty of people who pick their favourite pieces of gym equipment out of a desire to be more effective with their time spent at the gym.
Whatever your reasons for having your own favourites at your gym, here’s a list of three pieces of gym equipment we would prioritise. Hopefully, this helps you get an idea of which machines and equipment you should be getting more familiar with, to make sure you get the most holistic workout possible.
You’ll typically see standard flat benches at most gyms, but an adjustable bench offers versatility for athletes looking to perform their exercises at an inclining or declining angle. Being able to adjust your bench will allow you to work a wider range of your muscles, and some of the most popular exercises associated with the bench are dumbbell curls, shoulder, and incline dumbbell presses.
Squat Rack
You don’t need to be an Olympic weightlifter to be able to appreciate seeing one of these at your gym. While it may look intimidating to most casual gym-goers, the squat rack is sometimes known as the king when it comes to the different types of gym equipment available. It is mainly used for squats, but can be a useful area to be in, when performing other important exercises like deadlifts and shoulder presses. Another variant of the squat rack is the power rack.
Free Weights
There would be little point in appreciating a gym for its benches and exercise areas, if it didn’t come with free weights to begin with. Free weights come in the form of dumbbells, kettlebells, and barbells with attachable weight plates. You’ll usually see these stacked in your gym’s weightlifting area, and you can regard them as being among the most essential pieces of equipment to find at a gym. Depending on your athletic ability and experience, free weights allow a person to train progressively – don’t skip out on learning how to use these, especially if you are serious about achieving your fitness goals!
